Gibney Classic remains a popular fixture for keelboats
This is always a good fun event proudly sponsored by the Gibney Family. We salute them for the long running and generous sponsorship. It was great to see the entry of 50 boats for this event being supported by all classes.
Good racing was had by all in tricky conditions ie lumpy seas, light winds and strong tides. The day started pretty miserable with light winds and drizzle but like most Gibney Classics by the time we finished racing we had beautiful clear skies and no wind.
It is a spectacle to see the Howth Seventeen’s all sailing up the Malahide Estuary. The hospitably back at Gibneys was well received by all and as usual there was great craic at the prize giving.

We would like to thank all those who make events like this happen:

Maureen Muir chief Coordinator (endless work and phone calls)
Marina Hunter who helped Maureen on the day with the prize giving.
Brian Turvey for MC Prizegiving and Marcus Lynch for the photos
Christine Curly for giving up her time on Saturday to do the results.
The OOD Robert Orr and the committee boat members and their crash boat crews.
Noel Davision for leaflet design.

Many thanks,

Dermot
