Essential Navigation and Seamanship course

This course is the ideal introduction to the essential knowledge required to plan and safely undertake short cruising passages in coastal waters. Run over two consecutive days, it is a concise yet highly informative course perfect for skippers and crew new to cruising. The Essential Navigation and Seamanship course is equally suitable for sailing yachts, motor boats, RIBS, divers and sea anglers.

The course will include: 

  • Charts and chart-work
  • Safety
  • Navigation buoys and lights
  •  ‘Rules of the Road’
  • Tides
  • Weather
  • Passage planning and pilotage
  • Modern methods of electronic navigation

The course will be run on Saturday the 13th and Sunday the 14th of October, 2018, from 9:30am to 5:30 pm each day in HYC. The course fee is €120 which includes the full course pack and documentation.
