Bronze Medal for Howth Yacht Club Sailor Eve McMahon

Howth Yacht Club is bursting with pride as our very own Eve McMahon becomes the first Irish female sailor to medal at the ILCA Senior World Championships!

Eve claimed bronze in Qingdao, China, standing on the podium alongside France’s Louise Cerveraand Poland’s Agata Barwinska — a phenomenal achievement on the world stage.

In the six races sailed, Eve recorded results within the top six places in the 99-boat race and avoided penalties.

"It was a really difficult day with very strong winds but Eve made three solid races," said Irish Sailing coach Vasilij Zbogar. "She is sailing really well and we're looking forward to the days and months of competition ahead."

Eve already has two Under-21 World titles, and now adds a senior world championship medal to her list of accomplishments. This milestone is not just a personal triumph for Eve, but a landmark moment for Irish sailing.

We are incredibly proud of Eve who continues to inspire the next generation of sailors — particularly young women — showing what’s possible with talent, resilience, and determination.

The event also featured other Howth Yacht Club sailors with Eve's brother Evan McMahon finishing 19th in the mens competition and Sienna Wright showed her growing form ending in a mid-fleet position in her first senior level world championship.
