Dinghy Regatta competitors enjoy superb weather and great racing

30 August 2014

HYC hosted its annual Dinghy Regatta on Sunday which was sponsored by Key Capital Private. There were nearly 80 entries and the beautiful sunshine and moderate breeze made it a very enjoyable day for both the competitors and their parents. The Regatta was well supported by other clubs but in particular by Malahide Yacht Club who reciprocated for Howth’s large turnout at their dinghy regatta the previous weekend. There were 37 participants in the optimist regatta fleet, with many of them taking part in racing for the 1st time. Congratulations to all who took part. A further 24 Optimists raced in the main fleet. Toppers continue to grow in numbers with 5 boats racing . There was also an excellent turnout of eight 420’s with our own Lara Jameson and David Johnston finishing 2nd to HYC's high performance team of Robert Dickson and Sean Waddilove.

Many thanks to Sara Lacy and her team who ran an excellent event.
