'Blessing of the boats' - Sunday August 10th

The 'Blessing of the boats' ceremony will be held in the Fishing Harbour on this Sunday amidst a selection of activities including competitions for best dressed boat. All HYC boat owners and crew are invited to take part in this inclusive day for users of Howth Harbour. Boats are encouraged to be 'dressed overall' on the marina for the occasion and a procession into the inner fishing harbour will also be coordinated from 14:45. 

Sunday 10th August

13:00   'Net mending competition' – beside syncrolift - prizes for 1st, 2nd & 3rd place

14:30   'Sea Shanties at Monument' – with Howth Singing Circle & friends

14:50   'Welcome of the fleet' – Brian Turvey, Commodore of Howth Yacht Club

15:00   Religious Service at Monument - ecumenical service at Monument to Lives Lost at Sea followed by clergy boarding a vessel to conduct the blessing of the fleet

Prizes for best dressed boats (Trawler, yacht, motor boat, etc.)

Food Village – opposite Waterside - 1.00pm - 5.00pm
