The Farrelly Family begin a Caribbean Adventure
HYC members Cormac, Mandy, Aoibhín and Fiachra Farrelly have taken a two month sabattical and will undertake a sailing adventure to cruise the Windward and Leeward islands of the Caribbean. The kids (Aoibhín and Fiachra), being twins are both in transition year at school so the timing was right and they decided to go for it! See below Cormac's first report which is taken from his website where the full detail of their adventures will be posted..

('We started our journey last week and are now sailing up the west coast of Guadeloupe as I write this.
I’ve put together a website with a live satellite tracker so you can follow our boat and we do a video blog every few days to keep everyone updated on our progress.')

Greetings from Guadeloupe!

For those of you who haven’t heard our news, I’ve taken a short Sabbatical and my family and I am setting sail to explore the windward and leeward islands of he eastern Caribbean.  In the words of Mark Twain, Many years from now you regret the things you didn’t do more than the things you did.   So we are taking his advice literally and catching the trade winds in our sails!

We flew out from Ireland to Guadeloupe.  Having spent a few days acclimatizing and getting ourselves organised for our adventure we picked up our sailboat on Saturday in Marina Bas du Fort.
We will spend a few days getting familiar with all the boat systems and checking through everything.  Our “shakedown” sail will be to an Island off the South coast of Guadeloupe called Marie Galante. (As a side note, apparently Columbus run out of saints names when he found this island so he named it after his ship!)

Our plan then is to make our way North up to Antigua and then slowly down to the spice islands of Grenada stopping off in Guadeloupe, Dominica, Martinique, St Lucia and St Vincent and the Grenadines.
So many people have asked us to send photos and updates that we decided to put together this website.  Its called bornsailors.com.  You can track our progress via our satellite tracker and join the conversation online.
All of the photos in the gallery are from our Instagram account but you can comment or share directly from our home page. Looking forward to seeing you there for more updates.

For those of you who don’t like cringe city, I would strongly advise you not to watch the video below.
I promise they’ll get better or if not I’ll recruit other crew members to feature.
