HYC Clubhouse

Solar Panels installed in Howth Yacht Club

February 2024

In the past few days solar photovoltaic system has been commissioned in Howth Yacht Club.
A total of 44 panels are installed on the roof of the club house which can produce up to 19kW of power.
Solar photovoltaic systems require daylight to produce electricity. They produce their maximum output when the sun is shining but will even work on cloudy days when the sun is not shining with reduced output as they use the light to create energy.

The system generates free electricity and will reduce our overall cost of electricity.
This green energy solution is part of HYC’s commitment to using a sustainable energy system, reducing our carbon footprint and lowering our reliance on fossil fuels. The panels have a very low maintenance cost and have a 30-year power warranty.

The Solar PV installation project has been supported by a grant managed by Fingal County Council under the Community Climate Action Fund from the Department of Environment, Climate Action & Communications.
