Farewell to Star Point

Farewell to Star Point

After 10 years of loyal service, HYC’s old committee boat, Star Point, has been sold.
A familiar and dependable presence on the water, Star Point supported countless races, training sessions, and club events, playing a vital role in the day-to-day running of Howth Yacht Club.

Star Point served HYC since 2016, when she took over from her predecessor, Free Enterprise. During her tenure, she acted as committee vessel at World, European, and National Championships, as well as a myriad of club and regional events. She also lent her services beyond Howth, including Dublin Bay, where she was a regular flagship for the Volvo Dun Laoghaire Regatta, and she even started Wicklow SC’s Round Ireland Race on multiple occasions.

She has been part of many memorable days on the water and will be fondly remembered by members and volunteers alike.

Star Point was replaced by North Star in 2025, a newly constructed, purpose-built Maxus catamaran built in Kilkeel, Northern Ireland. North Star takes up the mantle as HYC’s primary committee vessel, continuing the Club’s tradition of providing top-class infrastructure to complement its fantastic sailing location.

We wish Star Point fair winds in her next chapter.
