Reflecting on Paris 2024 Olympics: the wind blows steady and fair for Irish sailing

As the lights go off on Paris 2024 Games and the Olympic flame fades, we take a moment to acknowledge the remarkable efforts and athletic achievements of the four Irish sailing athletes who represented our country in the Skiff, ILCA 6 and ILCA 7 extremely competitive Classes.

Racing at the Olympics is a testament to their dedication, skill, and perseverance through a challenging journey that requires years of rigorous training, mental fortitude, and unwavering commitment.

Rob, Seán, Eve and Finn have demonstrated exceptional resilience and determination, qualities that are essential for competing at the highest international level. Their participation alone is a source of immense pride for Ireland and a reflection of their hard work and passion for sailing in our local waters.

At Howth Yacht Club, we are incredibly proud of our sailors and their accomplishments. Their performance in Paris is of inspiration for many young people to take on grassroot sailing and showcased the strength of Irish elite sailing on the global stage.

While our athletes did not bring medals home this time, their achievements are no less significant. They have set a high standard for the Irish sailing movement and gained strong expertise for their future competitions.

Once they have a well deserved rest, we look forward to seeing these Fab Four sailors back on the water doing what they do best. Their journey continues, and we are confident that they will keep striving for excellence and again make Ireland proud.
