  Report - August 20th - Friday Back
Wind N/W F5-6 gusting but dying down later. Strong wind over tide conditions all day. Dry, cool, cloudy.

Friday was another windy morning with which the race management had to contend. After the mayhem of the previous day at the lower end of the fleet, the PRO, Derek Bothwell, decided to stand-down the Bronze category sailors. IODAI regulations permit this decision and in doing so, the PRO was able to have single starts for the remaining Gold and Bronze sailors rather than two flights.

With a late afternoon tide, the flood was against the prevailing wind throughout the sailing day. The result was considerable swell with some white-horses. Such sea-state gave the impression of stronger winds but the instruments hardly read above 20 knots at any stage. The mother-ships were busy again today but most people agreed that the decision to only race the Gold and Silver was correct.
