Q:Do I need to own my own boat to join HYC?
A:No. Most of our members do not own their own boat but crew for family, friends and other club members.
 
Q:If I have or buy a boat will there be any place to keep it?
A:Yes. The club has several types of arrangements for keeping boats, from dry storage with the facility to launch and recover every time you want to go sailing to marina berth and swing moorings.
 
Q:Are these expensive?
A:Not really - they average far less than commercial operations.
 
Q:I have limited interest in sailing/boating, can I still join HYC?
A:A large amount of members do not sail at all but joined for the other facilities we have to offer. There is an excellent dining room, a bar and lounge area, a well equipped snooker room, several function rooms, a library room and there are also various clubs within HYC for example bridge.
 
Q:Are the facilities available to members for a personal function?
A:Yes, facilities are bookable for any sort of personal function for example weddings, business meetings, parties etc.
 
Q:Do you have parking facilities?
A:There are plenty of public spaces available adjacent to HYC and these are free of charge.
 
Q:How do I join?

Q:Can my partner join?
A:Yes membership is open to everyone. One partner can join as an ordinary member and the other can be an associate member (non voting).
 
Q:What is voted on?
A:Election of new officers, general committee, to change the rules and things like that.
 
Q:What is on offer for Children?
A:We have a very full, active and fun summer sailing program. No experience is necessary and they can learn all aspects of sailing from beginners to advanced.
 
Q:Are any functions organised for members?
A:Yes there is a very active social committee who run all sorts of events throughout the year from talks and guest speakers to quiz nights, theme nights, comedy nights, seasonal functions and courses. There is also a bridge club and golf club within HYC.

A:You can pop into the club at anytime and talk to the general office or call us on 832 2141
