The Captain's Prize outing was held on Friday 4th September 2009 at Howth Golf Club.
Although it was a blustery day thirty five members and guests took part with three early starters, Andrew Knowles, Bryan Lynch and Finbar Tighe teeing off at 8.30 a.m. The rest of the competitors started from 1.30 p.m.
Ian Baird, playing off 14, won with an excellent score of 38 points followed by Ann Navan who was runner up with 34 points.
The wine reception held at Howth Yacht Club was a great success and was followed by the prizegiving.
In her speech the Captain first of all thanked John Mitchell of Mitchells TV for his very generous sponsorship of the competition. She also thanked Norbert Reilly of P. R. Reilly who through John Bennett gave the society caps and golf balls which were gratefully received by all those taking part. She thanked the committee members for their hard work which had ensured such a successful day and in particular Vice Captain Olive Coyle who looked after the results and Hon. Sec. Michael Martin and Hon Treas. John Bennett for their continuous involvement in the organisation of the societies outings.
The prizegiving followed, with some great scores being acknowledged considering the conditions.
Afterwards, members and guests adjourned for an excellent dinner provided by the club caterers.
