15th October
28 members and 8 guests enjoyed a wonderful outing to Sutton Golf Club on Friday 13th October 2006 at the final event of the year - the Captain's (Billy Quinn) Prize and Turkey outing. The weather was very good (despite the ill-omened date) and the course was in excellent condition, even though the new irrigation works had commenced.
51 people attended the dinner, when all the outstanding prizes won throughout the year were presented. Distinguished attendees included Mary Beddy (Lady Captain of Howth Golf Club) and Michael Fitzpatrick (Past President of the Golfing Union of Ireland).
John Massey, with Eileen Lappin finishing just one point behind, won the Captain's Prize. Conor Murphy held on to win the Golfer of the Year with five points to spare. For the first time in a few years all the Match Play competitions were completed on time - congratulations to all involved.

21 members and 5 visitors enjoyed a wonderful outing to Woodenbridge Golf Club on Tuesday 29th August.
There was some squally rain in the middle of the round, but it was sunny when we arrived down, and beautifully sunny when we finished. As usual the course was in terrific condition and the dinner was excellent. Several of the players stayed overnight in the Woodenbridge Hotel, and the general consensus was that there should be a repeat visit next year.
The winner of the outing was Billy Navan with 37 points. In the Golfer of the Year Competition Conor Murphy now has amassed 100 points, but the pack is closing in. All will be decided at the final outing at Sutton Golf Club on 13th October.

Captain Billy Quinn having got the ball on the tee wonders how he is going to get club out of bag!

In the Golfer of the Year Competition, with two of the four outings played, and the 3 best scores to count, Conor Murphy is 9 points ahead of the pack, but as he will be heavily handicapped for the last two events the race is not over yet!
