| Optimist Development Squad |
This team is open to all Howth Yacht Club optimist sailors that have completed a start sailing course.
The aim of the training is to allow sailors to keep enjoying their sailing outside of the summer months, while working on improving their five essentials - sail setting, dagger board, balance, trim and course made good.
This very successful squad has a growing membership of keen young sailors that are always welcoming of new team members.
The development squad captain Kieran Jameson has laid out a training schedule for the squad:
Autumn Training {booking form - Optimist Training}
6 Friday afternoons 3pm 6pm starting 7th Sept  90
All of the training will be run under the auspices HYC training and will use a range of experienced and qualified coaches. Places for the squad will be allocated on a first come first serve basis.

To encourage and promote the growth of the 420 class at HYC, we are working with the 420 class association and other clubs in the Leinister region.
The aim of the training is to allow sailors to keep enjoying their sailing outside of the summer months, while working on improving their boat handling skills and racing technique.
The training is open to all 420 sailors and there are a few boats that are made available for sailors that would like to try the class
The 420 class captain Des Flood in conjunction with Brian McDowell of MYC have laid out a training schedule:
Venue: Howth Yacht Club
Dinghy parking is free for the duration of the training.
Racing is available to members of the training group Saturday Afternoon 8th September - 6th October 13th October for HYC member's end of season regatta
1 Charter boat is available for the duration of the training
Training: Sunday Afternoons 2.00pm - 6.00pm.
Lead coach Graeme Grant will be joined by experienced 420 coaches and sailors.
Delivering a program that will suit the range of experience expected.

420 Class Training Camp:
13th, 14th October 50 per person {booking form}
420 class association training camp with the national coach Ross Killian.
There may be additional charter boats available

28th Oct, 29th Oct, 30th Oct 75 per person (10 discount HYC members) {booking form}
3 days of training with Graeme Grant and other top coaches
