The photo opposite shows this year's crop of Panther Cubs.

Looking through the list of names, there are at least five children whose fathers are former National Champions in either Optimist, IDRA 14, 470 or Squib classes!

  Sailing Introductory Courses for Youngsters

Due to popular demand, two week-long Introductory Sailing Courses for 7 and 8 year old boys and girls are being repeated this July and August under the guidance of the Club's Dinghy Coach Gillian Guinness.

Continuing the 'Cubs' theme of previous years, the 2007 courses will be called the Panther Cubs (July 23rd to 27th) and Lynx Cubs (August 13th to 17th).

Through organised water-borne games and activities, the young 'Cubs' will become familiar with boats, sail-power and the associated skills.

Each course is open to 20 young members - 10 in the morning session and 10 in the afternoon.

Applicants must be Junior Members of HYC, they must be able to swim and must have their own wet-suit, cag top and buoyancy aid.

Entry is on a 'first-come, first-served' basis and applications will open on March 21st at 10.00AM by email to the HYC Admin Office - admin@hyc.ie

Further information, if required, is available from Gillian Guinness on 086-252 1946
